I haven't gotten into the Obama 'birther' issue because I never thought that it would ever go anywhere, and still don't, but this story from Monroe County Tennessee by way of Canada is hard to pass up.
OK, I'll admit it's a sideshow and a good opportunity for the 'liberal' alternative media to make fun of southerners, but it still doesn't mean that Obama and crew are not guilty of treason. There are plenty of reasons to indict him no matter where he was born. Along with a great number of present and previous government criminals.
The Village Voice must have a good budget to come to Tennessee to cover the story. They got this picture of the 'hillbilly jury.' Walter Fitzpatrick III will present the evidence behind his treason complaint against Obama/Soetoro to all thirteen members of a
Tennessee Grand Jury in Monroe County Tennessee.
The road to justice has been bumpy, to say the least. Commander Fitzpatrick has been ridiculed, blocked in court house halls, threatened, accused of mutiny and labeled a “crackpot” by Obama supporters who see no need for a standard background check for the most powerful office in the world.
Fitzpatrick had to go so far as to file criminal obstruction charges against Grand Jury
Foreman Pettway before he would gain access to the court. Despite it all, Commander Fitzpatrick forged ahead and on December 1st, his complaint will be heard by his local Monroe County Tennessee Grand Jury.
Now, this places the Tennessee Grand Jury squarely in the middle of the biggest Constitutional Crisis in U.S. history. Fitzpatrick will be under oath before the Grand Jury on Tuesday. If the Grand Jury has any doubts about Fitzpatrick’s testimony, they must arrest him for perjury on the spot. If they don’t arrest him for perjury, they are accepting his testimony as true and accurate…
If Article II—Section I—Clause V of the U.S. Constitution means nothing—then no part of the Constitution means anything today. On the other hand, if the Monroe County Tennessee Grand Jury follows its oath to uphold, protect and preserve the Constitution and apply the law equally to all, then the charge of treason must be allowed its day in court.
The Monroe County Grand Jury appears ready to act on its oath and authority. But if they don’t, they could become thirteen new members of a long list of folks equally guilty of treason, for turning their heads the other way and denying the American people access to the courts in what might be the greatest case in U.S. political history.
Thirteen members of the Monroe County Grand Jury hold the future of Constitutional Law in their hands. Come Tuesday, they will have an opportunity to keep their oath to the American people - the citizens of Monroe County and state of Tennessee. Tuesday, the Monroe County Grand Jury will get an opportunity to make history and reverse the modern trend of denying citizens their day in court. The people have a right to know who and what Obama really is. Let’s see if the Monroe County Grand Jury has the backbone to force Obama to answer that question.
When an unconstitutional resident of the White House rushes a laundry list of unconstitutional policies through, including the use of the Military against U.S. citizens—against the demands of the American citizens, it’s time to ask some very serious questions and the American people deserve no less than honest answers.

Mother Jones, the old bastion of the alternative media who also backed the 9/11 commission findings, doesn't think much of questioning Obama's place of birth and the charges of treason.

Tea-party style activism has taken some nutty turns before—the Hitler references, the Holocaust pictures. But Walter Fitzpatrick III may be about to push anti-Obama activism to new heights. On Tuesday, he plans to walk into the Monroe County courthouse in tiny Madisonville, Tennessee, and attempt to convince a local grand jury to indict the president on treason and fraud charges.
Fitzpatrick is one of those alternate-reality Americans who believe that Barack Obama is actually one Barry Soetoro, a man who is not an American citizen and thus ineligible to serve as president. Fitzpatrick claims that since March, he has been trying to get federal prosecutors in Tennessee to bring treason charges against the president. All that effort earned him, however, was a visit from the Secret Service.
But then Fitzpatrick evidently discovered that Monroe County has rather liberal rules about grand juries. In most places, only a local prosecutor can present evidence to a grand jury and request an indictment. In Monroe County, any private citizen can show up with a petition and seek an indictment. The most common initiators of such proceedings are usually victims of robberies or assaults, however, not activists trying to unseat the president.
Fitzpatrick is hardly the first to attempt legal proceedings against Obama, but his scheme is unique in that it involves criminal allegations.
Fitzpatrick is trying to appeal directly to the people through a grand jury comprised of average citizens who volunteer their time. Still, unless the jurors of Monroe County are truly rabid Obama haters, it seems unlikely that they will be persuaded—or that they even have the power to indict the president in the first place. Treason, after all, is a federal crime, not a county-level offense. When I asked a court employee whether the Monroe County grand jury has jurisdiction to indict a sitting president, she seemed rather baffled: "I wouldn’t think so. That would not go before a local court." She observed that the grand jury won’t issue any decision on the case until December 7. But for any real criminal charges to go forward, the local district attorney would have to agree to take up the case, a move that any sane prosecutor would be reluctant to make. {more}
The 'birther' angle puts us into a gray area. Our president promised transparency and it would take little effort to once and for all put the issue to rest if there is nothing to hide.
But by leaving the doubt and spending a lot of money to repress efforts to just get the facts could be a means to a distraction and a way to lump 'birthers' in with all sorts of 'conspiracy' theories/facts and demonize the ones who speak out about them. Divide us.
I can hear Rahm saying "yeah, they got us, it could be a crisis but let's don't waste the opportunity."
I'm going to ask the question ... are any of these people who file these 'birther' civil lawsuits and now attempt to get a grand jury indictment being paid to do so? By the ones who they are going against? Controlled opposition is always a variable.
