Fact: The 150,000 figure is false. It came from two sources: Naomi Wolf's "The Beauty Myth", and Gloria Steinem's "Revolution From Within". Those sources misquoted the American Anorexia and Bulimia Association's 1985 report that claimed 150,000 women SUFFER from anorexia each year, not die [1][2].
Fact: According to the CDC, from the years 2003 to 2006, an average of 150 PEOPLE died each year from ALL eating disorders [3].
Myth: Anorexia is the number one eating disorder among women.
Fact: Over-eating, or binge-eating, is the number one eating disorder in America [4] (imagine that!). We rarely hear about all the obese Women and how serious a health problem it is however, because over-eating is not officially classified as an eating disorder (and how can you possibly blame it on men!). Bulimia (over-eating followed by induced vomiting) is number 2, and anorexia is number 3 [4].
Myth: Women starve themselves to death because of pressures from society to be skinny.
Fact: There are far more obese women than anorexic women. A 23.5% obesity rate [5], compared to a 0.5%-1.0% estimated anorexia rate [6][7]. This makes obesity roughly 24-47 times more prevalent than Anorexia. If there is so much pressure on women to be thin - why are so many of them overweight and so few of them underweight?
Ask any man which of the three women below he finds most attractive:
The over-whelming majority will say "THE MIDDLE ONE". All three are in bikinis. The only factor separating them is their weight. The one in the middle is the healthy weight. Men find HEALTHY women attractive.
The Tennessee legislature makes a good move by putting down a horse slaughter bill. Now if they would just have the guts to take on the Medical Marijuana legislation instead of delaying it by saying they would 'study' the issue.
Horse Slaughter Update April 28, 2010: Following a hearing yesterday before the full House Finance, Ways and Means, Tennessee state Rep. Frank Niceley withdrew his pro-horse slaughter bill, H.B. 1428, and it is now dead for this legislative session.
John Holland, founder and president of the Equine Welfare Alliance, and Paula Bacon, former mayor of Kaufman, Texas, site of one of the last horse slaughter plants in the U.S., testified in opposition to the bill.
Famed singer and songwriter, Willie Nelson and his daughter, Amy Nelson, and granddaughter, Raelyn Nelson, were at the hearing in opposition to this bill but did not testify before the committee.
Paula Bacon described that she was mayor of Kaufman “during part of 27 years we spent trying to deal with this horse slaughter plant.” She told the committee that a horse slaughter facility was a “burden to taxpayers…a stigma” and almost forced the city to spend “millions to upgrade ..the waste water treatment plant”.
Bacon said that building a horse slaughter facility was “very definitely not desirable economic development.” She said the facility does not create good jobs, just a handful of low paying, dangerous jobs. She described the burden on the local hospital because of the horse slaughter plant employees were often injured, even losing limbs.
She said the city derived no sales tax revenue from the horse slaughter plant. Bacon described that the $1600 in property taxes collected each year equaled about “2 weeks of a month paid in legal fees as we wrangled with this company that refused to comply with environmental laws.” She said income tax records showed in its last year of operation in the U.S., the company paid just $5 in federal income taxes on $12 million in sales and over a five year period paid only .3% of gross sales in taxes.
Bacon showed the committee 1 ½ years worth of violations of the facility’s waste water treatment permit. She noted the permit allowed the facility to release about eight times the sewage permitted other business, yet the company was still often in violation, releasing waste and blood, that overran the town’s wastewater treatment facility.
Bacon said since the closing of the horse slaughter plant by the court in 2007, the town has not needed to proceed with a $6 million+ upgrade to its waste water treatment facility.
Bacon told the committee they would be better off having lead smeltering plants or sex-related businesses in their communities than a horse slaughter plant.
John Holland told the committee “If you get nothing else out of this, you heard how horse slaughter plants closed in 2007 and it caused problems for the horses. This is not true.” He pointed out that horse slaughter remained available in Canada and Mexico and approximately the same number of horses were shipped there as had been slaughtered in the U.S.
Holland pointed out, “There are lots and lots of drugs in these horses. …Because [horsemeat] is sold to foreign countries [for human consumption, our inspectors], looked the other way.” Holland described a study led by Dr. Ann Marini that revealed bute, given to horses like aspirin, is a deadly poison, a carcinogen. Bute never breaks down and remains a danger to consumers. He described the new European Union regulations which beginning this July will require certification that slaughtered horses were drug free for 6 months and that they had never ingested certain drugs. Holland explained that by July, 2013, the EU will require that horses must be tracked from birth. “As of that point, ” said Holland, “none of [the meat] from American horses could go to the EU.” Americans don’t track horses or, for the most part, the drugs given to them. As Holland, explained, “The horses just show up at auction and no one knows [ their history].”
Holland pointed out that though slaughter rates remained the same after the U.S. plants shut down, in 2009 there was a 20% drop in horse slaughter and 125 this year so far because of slowing demand. Holland said, “This is because the EU is figuring out the danger. Europeans are figuring out horse meat is not health food as they were told and instead they are eating New Jersey race horses.” He described it as “irresponsible” for anyone to build a horse slaughter facility in the U.S. given the danger.
Holland closed his testimony by noting that the horse slaughter facility in Canada, Natural Valley, was closed last year by the government for dropping large amounts of blood in rivers with no proper disposal. He said the horse slaughter facility cost the economy of that community $42 million.

VBS travels to West Africa to rummage through the messy remains of a country ravaged by 14 years of civil war. Despite the United Nation’s eventual intervention, most of Liberia’s young people continue to live in abject poverty, surrounded by filth, drug addiction, and teenage prostitution. The former child soldiers who were forced into war have been left to fend for themselves, the murderous warlords who once led them in cannibalistic rampages have taken up as so-called community leaders, and new militias are lying in wait for the opportunity to reclaim their country from a government they rightly mistrust.

I present some questions. These questions rarely get asked, except by people like me. They are questions that arise in any intelligent mind when presented with a feminist statistic (i.e. a LIE).
Why doesn't anybody in the media ever ask these questions?
Let's look at the questions first: If there are so many men who are "dead-beat dads", why are there so many women making babies with them?
If there are so many physically abusive men, why are there so many women getting into relationships with them?
If 150,000 women die each year from anorexia, and it is such a terrible problem, how come the majority of women we see in public are obese?
If women really do earn 75 cents for each dollar a man earns for doing the same work, why don't corporations hire only women - and reduce their employee costs?
If men are afraid of commitment, why do women initiate more than 66% of all divorces?
If the phrase "rule of thumb" was originally a law that forbid a man from beating his wife with a stick bigger around than his thumb - when was that law abolished? Is it still legal to beat one's wife with such a stick?
If a "nice guy" is actually a deceitful, manipulating man trying desperately to get laid, why is the adjective "nice" used to describe him?
Why do the same women who complain about scantily clad women being "degrading" to women also complain about Muslim nations - where the women are forced to cover every square inch of their bodies - even their faces?
If female virgins are "pure", why is it that many of them have committed acts of murder, burglary, and even prostitution (i.e. auctioning their virginity)?
If women were actually forbidden from holding jobs or getting college educations in days past, why were there female doctors in the 1800's? The reason we never hear these questions asked: They all place the credibility of the statement in jeopardy, or, they force accountability onto women. That is, the fraudulence of the statement can be overcome with common sense (like the wage gap), or, they imply that women need to be held responsible and accountable for the way they act and behave.
That is a big NO-NO in our society today. Holding a woman accountable, or expecting her to be credible earns you the label of misogynist.
With the election looming I thought it worth emphasising just what 'new' Labour have done to the NHS and doctors since they came to power in 1997. Instead of working with professionals, they have demoralised and undermined them with their megalomania and top down control freakery. This short tale is from one of many who have had their career destroyed by Labour in such a heartless fashion, it
We haven't seen a single photo or video of the 'bomber' since his arrest. Is who they have in custody the same one as in the officially released images?
Al Qaeda fighters in Yemen have introduced a new tactic designed to strike terror into the Western democracies.
Shocking new footageshows that AQ has moved on from burning flags. Pictures released by AQ's video wing show fighters shooting the British flag full of holes with large machine guns.
The AQ men risked sunstroke and sand in their shoes to pull off a stunning propaganda coup deep in the desert miles from anyone who could kill them.
The defenceless Union flag was painted onto a sheet of metal and left to swelter under the burning sun as it was used for target practice. The Jewish star and the letters 'UN' were subjected to similar treatment.
The man accused of trying to bring down a Detroit bound airliner on Christmas Day is seen in the video pointing his gun at the clearly distressed flags and then justifying his actions saying they were part of a battle because “the enemy is in your lands with their armies, the Jews and the Christians and their agents.”
American intelligence officials believe the tape is authentic. They fear a US flag may be shot at some point and have warned all US flags to be on their guard and not to climb up poles in exposed areas.
A communique AQ might have written, but which was actually made up by myself, said 'If the Jews and Christians and their imperialist agents do not immediately dismantle their crusader regimes, reject capitalism, and convert to the one true faith, we will find more flags, even unto the Scottish , English and Welsh flags, and shoot them full of holes as well'.{more}

Waktu aku nak balik pun aku nampak dia. Dia geser kt kaki aku, mengiau2. Mungkin dia lapar, rasa nak je bawak balik. Tapi abah tak bagi. :'(
Sometimes a little thing like extra salt or pepper in the food I' ve cooked can teach me a lesson.
I can let it either frustrate me or humble me.
This is from Max Lucado encouraged me greatly.
Uncommon Use “He gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6 Heaven may have a shrine to honor God’s uncommon use of the common. It’s a place you won’t want to miss. Stroll through and see
Rahab’s rope,
Paul’s bucket,
David’s sling,
and Samson’s jawbone.
Wrap your hand around the staff that split the sea and smote the rock. Sniff the ointment that soothed Jesus’ skin and lifted his heart . . . I don’t know if these items will be there. But I am sure of one thing—the people who used them will.
Can you recall a small thing which has taught you something recently?

I have heard this phrase many times in my life. I never believed it was true, because I have known men who are nice that do not "finish last". I also have known very unkind men who do not finish at all...
However, the purpose of this nugget is not to discredit the phrase. The point, is to refine it - in order to make it more accurate...
For the last 50 years or so, feminism has been blaming the main-stream of men in this country for a fictional oppression of women. The feminists and others have been poisoning women's minds with things like the following:
Who is it that gets blamed for all of this fictional oppression? The main-stream of men in this country of course. After all, those men are where they are today - as a direct result of such oppression. That is, the majority (mainstream) of men in this country are all homophobic, misogynist, racist - and of course - white...
I offer this theory:
It is not nice-guys that finish last - it is "mainstream" guys that finish last. Think about it - the majority of men in this country have been raised to be kind - as they should be. It is this majority of men who represent the "mainstream" of men in this country - the men who women have had their minds poisoned against - as they seriously believe that those men are responsible - or are the product of years of fictional mistreatment of women.
So, nice-guys do not finish last - mainstream guys finish last.
And - the mainstream guy in America - happens to be nice (most men in America are raised to be nice).
This is why so many women seem to be attracted to complete losers - the attraction is not to a "rebel", it is more an attraction to an "outcast". That is, the losers they so frequently fall for are, in their minds, outcasts of a society that is oppressive to women.
This makes more sense to me than, "Nice Guys Finish Last", as there are nice guys who do not finish last, and there are mean guys that do not finish at all.
I will indulge my sorrows, and give way To all the pangs and fury of despair. Author: Joseph Addison These must have been the terminal thoughts of a young man called Goray who took his life yesterday morning. His relatives found him hanging by a rope in his dark hut in the village when they went to call him for breakfast. Stories like these appear in the newspaper everyday. Today I read that 3 adults and 2 children killed themselves because they were wronged by a village council (khap panchayat). But Goray 's death came as a big shock to my Mama and me because we knew him since childhood. He had come to see us recently and we tried to help him.
We had known Goray since he was a kid. His uncle and family used to live in our church out house and helped us with odd jobs and errands. Vishamber (uncle) has a blue collar job in a government office. Vishambar 's son Chummu got involved with the law, so had to ask them to leave the church premises.
Goray worked as a houseboy and driver for government officers. But 3 months ago he lost his job. His married elder brother Kallu who has a criminal bent of mind gave him unending trouble. Kallu defrauded Goray to give him all his savings under the pretext of buying a house and sharing it with him. But he turned him away. Kallu is married and has forced his wife to undergo several abortions. He has been involved in various anti-social activities. When Goray came to know that Kallu was planning to elope to Mumbai (Bombay) with another woman, he prevented it. Kallu reacted with terrible anger and rage and beat up diminutive and frail Goray several times. The injured brother incurred severe head injuries and Vishambar paid for his treatment as the poor boy was destitute and had no where to go being penniless. Goray 's father is an impoverished farmer and does not care for his family at all. Vishambar was sheltering his nephew for the past 3 months. He also finds hard to make ends meet as he has a large family to support. About 10 days ago I called Chummu, (who has somewhat reformed himself and is married with a 3 yr old son) to fix my window swamp cooler. He came along with his pretty wife Manju who sat with my Mama and me and shared her family and life problems with us. I will tell her story later on. All these are village based people belonging to the peasant caste. Manju belongs to a higher caste. Chummu has a Bachelor' s degree and he does small electrician jobs. While Chummu was fixing the cooler, Goray also came over . We met him after several month and he looked a mess. Skinny, weak and very depressed. He shared his tragic story with us and said he was desperately looking for a job. With tears in his eyes he said he was contemplating suicide. Mama and I counselled him for a long time and asked him to pray to Jesus ( none of these people are Christians). Our church groundskeeper said he would look for a driver 's job for him.I gave them Gospel portions and tried to encourage them. Then Goray suddenly asked,,"Didi,(elder sister) can I make tea in your kitchen?" I immediately took Manju and Goray into the kitchen and showed them where everything was and said ;Go ahead and make tea for all of us, which we had with cookies. Goray must have been feeling really destitute because he aske d me for vegetables. I had already made up a packet with what ever I had and gave it to him. When we paid Chummu we said use some of it for Goray too. The news struck us very deeply. And my Mama was sick the whole day today, she suffers from nervous anxiety. Earlier this week Mama 's cousin sister passed away. I went to her funeral on Wednesday. This was grief upon grief.
These days people are giving up so easily. Depression, fear anxiety hopelessness is choking life out of people.Poverty fuelled by despair is pushing people over the edge.
Vishambar and Goray belong to Ganne village which was in the headlines earlier this month. The newspapers reported that children of Ganne village were eating silica laced mud to assuage their hunger.Helped has reached that village just 45 kms away from my city.
But there is so much to be done. Our church groundskeeper Jags is very sick. Doctors suspect ulcers in his stomach. We are doing whatever we can and still more is needed. Please pray that the Lord fulfil our desire to help this poor man.The salary we give him is not enough for his medical treatment.
We believe our God -
"He raises the poor from the dust.
And lifts the needy from the ash heap'" Psalm 113;7
"How blessed is he who considers the helpless.
The Lord will deliver him in the day of trouble,
The Lord will protect him and keep him alive,
And he shall be called blessed upon the earth;
And do not give him over to the desires of his enemies.
The Lord will sustain him upon his sickbed; In his illness Thou dost restore him to health."
Wait ’till CNN gets ahold of this story, the spectre of the “White Supremacist” will be trotted out again… it will be mentioned that Maynard was a conspiracy theorist who railed against Blacks, Hispanics and J-ws.
Last night blogger Curt Maynard killed his wife, then turned the gun on himself when about to be apprehended by police.
It is too bad that he came to such a tragic end because he did write some good articles exposing Zionism that had been featured on popular websites, but sabotaged himself by resorting to racist slurs to decry the behaviour of criminal black and hispanic people. {more -Ziofascism}

Social Security, the Military Budget and Wall Street Jerry Mazza / 20 April 2010
The new Goldman Sachs global headquarters in Manhattan
Lately just about every month I find myself writing a check to the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. As a recipient of both, I feel it’s a cause worth supporting, especially now, and since Barbara Kennelly, its President and CEO, tells me in her newsletter that the “P” word for Privatization has reared its ugly head again. Bad ideas never seem to go away.
As Barbara writes, “Yes, another Social Security privatization plan much like the one we battled—and defeated—under the Bush Administration is making a comeback.” She adds, “And just like 2005, soaring federal debt is fueling this dangerous idea that proponents claim is essential to our nation’s economic security. But this time we’re under siege of a full-blown debt crisis…and the pressure is on like never before.”
My first thought is that Social Security did not bring on the debt crisis. It was the crooked banks that went into massive debt through bad and willfully corrupt decision making, and the use of deadly derivatives, Credit Default Obligations (CDO’s) and Credit Default Swaps (CDS’s). See U.S. Accuses Goldman of Fraud and Top Goldman Leaders Said to Have Overseen Mortgage Unit.
Add to this corruption, the endlessly soaring military budget, which is to fight three wars at once in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq. Secondly, the thought of handing Social Security funds to the thieves of the financial system is not only idiotic. It’s guaranteed to make those funds vanish in manipulated losses, more bailouts, and more fat-cat profits for Wall Street and its boys.
Any senior who would give those crooks a penny of their Social Security benefits, should have his or her head examined. It’s like inviting the foxes into the hen house one more time.
But Barbara, bless her, is worried that “Heavy hitters, including the House Budget Committee ranking member and senior members of the minority leadership, are strongly behind ‘debt reduction’ plans that put future benefits at risk.”
In response to financial risk, let me show you what award-winning investigative reporter Dave Lindorff says about the new and incredibly bloated military budget. His article is called Your Tax Dollars at War: More Than 53% of Your Tax Payment Goes to the Military. And it’s more than appropriate to write this mid-April, the cut-off date for tax payment. Let me a quote you a few of Lindorff’s startling paragraphs…
“The budget for the 2011 fiscal year, which has to be voted by Congress by this Oct. 1, looks to be about $3 trillion, not counting the funds collected for Social Security (since the Vietnam War, the government has included the Social Security Trust Fund in the budget as a way to make the cost of America’s imperial military adventures seem smaller in comparison to the total cost of government). Meanwhile, the military share of the budget works out to about $1.6 trillion.”
Got that? The government, since Vietnam, was actually including the Social Security Trust Fund in the budget to make the cost of America’s military mania seem smaller next to the total cost of government. But there’s more. Hold on…
“That [$3trillion] figure includes the Pentagon budget request of $717 billion, plus an estimated $200 billion in supplemental funding (called ‘overseas contingency funding’ in euphemistic White House-speak), to fund the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, some $40 billion or more in ‘black box’ intelligence agency funding, $94 billion in non-DOD military spending (that would include stuff like military activities funded through NASA, military spending by the State Department, etc., military-related activities within the Dept. of Homeland Security, etc.), $123 billion in veterans benefits and health care spending, and $400 billion in interest on debt raised to pay for prior wars and the standing military during peacetime (whatever that is!).” How’s that for a spending menu? But there’s more…
“The 2011 military budget, by the way, is the largest in history, not just in actual dollars, but in inflation-adjusted dollars, exceeding even the spending in World War II, when the nation was on an all-out war footing.
“This military spending in all its myriad forms works out to represent 53% of total US federal spending.”
Now, how about them apples? 53 cents on every tax dollar (including your taxes paid for receiving Social Security) will go to needlessly bombing, maiming, and killing people you don’t even know, or know why they are being stomped on like so many ants, including by remote-controlled drones, fired no less by the CIA from Langley, Virginia. These drones sometimes hit their “targets” and more often kill innocent civilians, men, women, children, and the aged, who can’t get out of the way fast enough.
Returning to Barbara, she continues, “And this is an election year after all. They know that informed citizens like you won’t support any plan using the ‘P’ word, let alone any talk of benefit cuts. So they’re changing the rhetoric, using terms like ‘re-engineering,’ ‘reforming,’ [like they reformed health-care] and ‘transitioning’ to describe these unpopular plans.
“But whatever they choose to call it, the true goal couldn’t be clearer: to move much of Social Security into the hands of Wall Street bankers. And seniors will pay the price.” Alright, that sounds awful and downright unpractical. But let me turn to Dave Lindorff, for more of his bon mots…
“It’s also a military budget that is rising at a faster pace than any other part of the budget (with the possible exception of bailing out crooked Wall Street financial firms and their managers). For the past decade, and continuing under the present administration, military budgets have been rising at a 9% annual clip, making health care inflation look tiny by comparison.
“US military spending isn’t just half of the US budget, though. It is also half of the entire global spending on war and weaponry. In 2009, according to the venerable War Resisters League, US military spending accounted for 47% of all money spent globally on war, weapons and military preparedness (it's probably closer to 50% now). What contributes to that staggering figure is that America’s allies— countries like France, Britain, Germany, Italy, and Japan— account for another 21% of the world’s military spending. Fully 12 of the top-spenders among big military-spending nations are either allies of the US, or are friendly or completely non-threatening countries like Brazil and India. That is to say, America and its friends and allies account for more than two-thirds of all military spending worldwide.”
So, while the US Government and it’s so-called “allies” account for more than two-thirds of the military spending worldwide, the US government would like even more money to come out the sweat and blood and life’s work of senior citizens, seniors who paid their Social Security taxes through their working years, and paid it religiously, as it was matched by their employers.
Defense budget to increase amid budget deficit
And even if there was a shortfall in the Social Security Trust, you could raise the tax on Social Security as it was raised before by Ronald Reagan. Or you could raise the cap on earnings to be taxed. Now that taxable income cap stands at $106,800. You could raise it to pick up the shortfall, so that Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Lloyd Blankfein, Peter B. Peterson, and top-tier earners, who still don’t pay a penny more in taxes than on their first $106,800 in income, would be taxed on a larger portion of their total income, let’s say $250,000. It wouldn’t cripple them, trust me.
What’s more Social Security income goes into a Trust which earns interest to help pay for itself. Part of the problem, going back to the Bush years and before, is that presidents were continually “borrowing” from that Trust to fund their pet projects, either war or whatever. The Treasury notes they put back for what they took out Bush called “useless pieces of paper.” Goes to show you what Bush knew or thought about Treasury notes, which were promises to repay Social Security recipients for his administration’s US debt.
But let’s get back to Barbara who writes, “And your influence is needed now to STOP two privatization attempts that some are calling ‘violent’ and even ‘draconian’… The first plan quite a euphemism for picking seniors’ pockets…
“1. ‘Roadmap for America’s Future’ (H.R. 4529) ‘This legislation, introduced by the ranking member of the House Budget Committee, includes the Bush-like provision to ‘reform’ Social Security into a system with private accounts for future beneficiaries, trading guaranteed benefits for the risks of Wall Street. (It would also transform Medicare into a voucher program for future beneficiaries!)
‘2. ‘Bush Privatization Plan Redux ‘Bolstered by influential members of his party, a senior member of the minority leadership has called for a revival of the failed Bush privatization plan. It’s really no different than the ‘Roadmap’ provision above…” In other words, it’s the same old, same old, give your money to Wall Street to lose, one way or the other.
In fact, just stop and think back to September 29, 2008, when the stock market plunged 778 points in one day as a result in part of the fall of Lehman Brothers on September 16th, 2008. And think about your Social Security money tied up in Wall Street privatization hands in the middle of that chaos. Good luck. Even holding a portfolio of corporate and triple tax-free municipal bonds, I got a good kick in the head on that day. And my portfolio income hasn’t rebounded to what it was before...or before that, when I suffered worse losses in the bubble-burst of 2000. The same thing could happen again. We’re just waiting for the new bubble.
An unidentified woman who said she is a Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc employee writes a message on a portrait of Lehman Brothers Chief Executive Dick Fuld in New York September 15, 2008. Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc filed for bankruptcy after trying to finance too many risky assets with too little capital, becoming the largest and highest-profile casualty of the global credit crisis. Based on assets, Lehman far surpassed WorldCom as the largest U.S. bankruptcy ever.
So don’t be suckered from giving away your Social Security to Wall Street, the ultimate insider business. Better you save it for your bread and butter. It’s the only on-going retirement plan seniors have had for 74 years, with no ands, ifs, or buts, when it comes time to provide their benefits. Even the biggest American corporations that have recently failed have bailed on their retirement payments.
As to Medicare, it’s the single-payer healthcare plan that you have paid for if you have Social Security, which you can supplement if you wish with a private Medigap plan. It could have been opened downward to people in their 50’s and become the model for a universal single-payer plan. But instead, it’s been ignored for a health-care plan that makes the insurance companies richer, cuts benefits, raises co-pays and deductibles. See my article Thanks for nothing, Mr. ‘Health Care Reform’ President. It was based on the findings of 17,000 Physicians from 43 states for a National Health Program, which included a single-payer plan that delivered more health for less cash.
Lastly, let me give you a parting blast from Dave Lindorff:
“Next time you hear that the government needs to cut funds for providing medical care to the children of laid-off workers, or that supplemental unemployment funds are running out, next time you hear that federal funds that are needed to fund extra teachers at your school are being cut, or that Social Security benefits need to be cut back, or the retirement age needs to be increased to 70, next time you hear that your local post office has to be shut down for lack of funds, next time you hear that Medicare benefits need to be reduced, think about that 53% of your tax payment that is going to finance the most enormous war machine the world has ever known. And ask yourself: Is this really necessary? Is this really where I want my money going? Is this really even making me safer or my country stronger?”
Well, that’s it. Thanks, Dave Lindorff. You’re a great man for writing what you did. And Barbara Kennelly, keep up the good work on the Washington treadmill.

I and the Village. 1911 Oil on Canvas, 192.1 x 151.4 cm Mrs. Simon Guggenheim Foundation
Painted the year after Chagall came to Paris, I and the Village evokes his memories of his native village, peasants and animals lived side by side, in a mutual dependence here signified by the line from peasant to caw, connecting their eyes.
The peasant's flowering sprig, symbolically a tree of life, is the reward of their partnership. For Hasids, animals were also humanity's link to the universe, and the painting's large circular forms suggest the orbiting sun, moon (in eclipse at the lower left), and earth.
The geometries of I and the Village are inspired by the broken planes of Cubism, but Chagall's is a personalized version. As a boy he had loved geometry: "Lines, angles, triangles, square, he would later recall", "carried me far away to enchanting horizons." Conversely, in Paris he used a disjunctive geometric structure to carry him back home.
Where Cubism was mainly an art of urban avant-garde society, I and the Village is nostalgic and magical, a rural fairy tale: objects jumble together, scale shifts abruptly, and a woman and two houses, at the painting's top, stand upside-down.
"For the Cubists," Chagall said, "a painting was a surface covered with forms in a certain order. For me a painting is a surface covered with representation of things... in which logic and illustration have no importance."

Why haven't we seen more local stations report on this over the last year? Lately there's been a rash of Jesse Ventura and Willie Nelsen talking about 9/11 but Richard Gage is not as easily dismissed so he's left out of the MSM mix.

Anak kerang pun melakukan nasihat bundanya. Ada hasilnya, tetapi rasa sakit terkadang masih terasa. Kadang di tengah kesakitannya, ia meragukan nasihat ibunya. Dengan air mata ia bertahan, bertahun-tahun lamanya.
Tetapi tanpa disadarinya sebutir mutiara mulai terbentuk dalam dagingnya. Makin lama makin halus. Rasa sakit pun makin berkurang. Dan semakin lama mutiaranya semakin besar. Rasa sakit menjadi terasa lebih wajar.
Akhirnya sesudah sekian tahun, sebutir mutiara besar, utuh mengkilap, dan berharga mahal pun terbentuk dengan sempurna.
Penderitaannya berubah menjadi mutiara; air matanya berubah menjadi sangat berharga.
