Hello Sheeba & A Short Note on India 's Caste System

She also has a dog named Jacky. Her family takes good care of him, I see that when I visit them.

Sheeba is doing better. Her food intake increased today. She needs a bath , with all the dust flying around.

Today, on Day 7 the workmen gave the living room its first coat of paint and scrubbed the walls of the veranda and filled the cracks and fissures with putty , then smoothed the rough patches. It is a time consuming and laborious job. That 's another reason why people in India prefer to hire men to paint their homes. Painters belong to the lower economic class, and they are either ill-literate , semi literate., or school drop outs. Its good they find employment this way.These kind of people form a large part of our work force - people who perform daily mundane tasks, jobs which according to the caste system is reserved for the lower classes.. Sounds very bourgeoisie but its practical.This is a way the poorly educated people find means of livelihood.

I got interesting reactions from some of my readers about India 's caste system.

The caste system is an ancient Hindu legacy which has caused a lot of inequality, injustice and suffering over the centuries. There i s more on this Wikipedia LINK

It is completely banned and declared illegal by law. In fact the government has made considerable efforts to raise the status of the lower castes by providing job reservation, subsidised education ,health care, scholarships , cheaper food etc. Although this aid is riddled with faults ,controversies and corruption. At present the upliftment of Dalits ( underprivileged , backward classes)is a major issue politically. The Governor (Chief Minister) of my state is a Dalit woman, democratically elected.

The caste system is deeply embedded in the psyche and social milieu of our nation and it will take ages to completely get rid of it. But the Dalits are progressing and are taking pride in their identity. In fact if you can prove you are a Dalit, Scheduled Caste or Tribe or Backward Caste you can get special privileges.

On the other hand anyone who becomes a Christian loses his Caste status , although they retain their tribal identity.(A very controversial and complicated subject.) Christians don 't condone or practice the caste system. In fact the Christian world view and teaching acceptance of all men equal in the sight of God played a major role in the abolition of this degrading practice since colonial times.

Christians themselves were ( still are) considered low castes - worshiping a 'western god ' and eating meat etc. It was an anti colonial mindset too. Christians were clumped together with the British rulers.

Now after more than 60 years of Independence things have improved vastly but there is plenty of room for more.

With unemployment rampant, well educated or high caste Hindus etc. are vying for jobs which the lower class people used to do

In Ephesians chapter 2 , Paul likens believers to a building which God is constructing, whose cornerstone is Christ .

I wonder how the Master Builder is cementing us all together,cleaning, polishing and smoothing us applying pressure and heat to make us worthy bricks for His temple.

Woman Purposely does Crossword Wrong; Hailed as Big Step for Women's Rights!

A brave woman, Ella V. Aidder pulled out the Sunday crossword from the paper. As always, she was frustrated by finding it to be challenging, and realized that the reason she did not find it "easy as pie" was because a man wrote it. In a stroke of genius; Instead of applying her skills, and making an effort, she did something very brave and courageous; she filled in the boxes with whatever letters, numbers and symbols she wanted to.

Julian Assange said the release of classified US documents will cover "every major issue" in the world while Benjamin Netanyahu said material concerning Israel will not be the focal point of a new exposé by the whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks. "Israel is not the center of international attention" declared a confident Netanyahu.

You can't have it both ways fellows. Israel does stand at the center of every major issue in the middle east and in manipulating U.S. foreign policy. There will be nothing new revealed about the crimes of Israel but plenty about their 'enemies.' U.S. spying is featured but Israeli spying seems to be missing.

To me, the most revealing parts of the Wikileaks diplo-docu-dump are about the Middle East. We already knew that the Sunni Arab autocrats cannot bear the thought of a Shiite nuclear bomb and are almost as worried as the Israelis. But now the evidentiary proof brings it home:

The Saudi king was recorded as having "frequently exhorted the US to attack Iran to put an end to its nuclear weapons programme", one cable stated. "He told you [Americans] to cut off the head of the snake," the Saudi ambassador to Washington, Adel al-Jubeir said, according to a report on Abdullah's meeting with the US general David Petraeus in April 2008.

The cables also highlight Israel's anxiety to preserve its regional nuclear monopoly, its readiness to go it alone against Iran – and its unstinting attempts to influence American policy. The defence minister, Ehud Barak, estimated in June 2009 that there was a window of "between six and 18 months from now in which stopping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons might still be viable". After that, Barak said, "any military solution would result in unacceptable collateral damage."

If we take Barak's word for it, the Israelis could launch World War III within a month. And would carry much of the Sunni Arab autocrats with it. One notes that Saudi foreign diplomats and functionaries are more wary about war with Iran than the royals. But there seems little discussion about the momentous consequences of a third war launched by the West against a Muslim country in less than a decade.

We know where all this is going. The media will spin up the 'threats' of Iran and North Korea. The U.S. will be seen as doing as they always do and Israel will get a pass because as usual, they are the 'victims' and all their motives are 'defensive.'

Wikileaks comes through again for certain intelligence services and Israel.

Home Improvement

This is a photograph of a marble engraving in a palace in Rajasthan (India). The tour guides play a game with the visitors. They ask them to identify the shapes carved on the panel. Everything blends so skillfully in this ornate carving. Can you identify the different motifs ?

On day 5 a good part (1/3rd) of the house painting is over. I am relieved to get my computer back.
Saturday came with a rain storm which brought the temperature down.The heavy rain resulted in a 4 hour electricity outage. It rained for over 3 hours.
I have taken out light warm clothes.
This is a time to give away things we don 't need any more. We have lived in this house for 28 years and originally there were 9 of us. Only 2 are left now - my mother and me. The season of our lives has also changed so we need to get rid of extra baggage. One has to overcome the sentiments attached to stuff which has been with us for so long, though.

I am also thinking of how to re-arrange things and give the rooms a different look. One thing is for sure . I want to minimise the clutter.

Some of you asked about the color. I have chosen white paint for the walls and grille (iron work) and pale cream for the doors and windows. I like the clean sterile look. White will also keep the house cool in the summer. I will post some photos once the work is completed.

Once my Dad had the bedrooms painted pink and rest of the house in cream. But a darker shade will require more lighting and may cause eye strain too.

Have a good week ahead friends. On Monday my kitchen will be painted so I will not be able to cook anything. Everything is dismantled . I have some left overs in the fridge and will manage with bread and butter.

Poor Sheeba (my doggie) has her pants in a twist. She is eating one small meal in the afternoon. She asks for a bite after 10pm. With her favourite snoozing spots disturbed she thinks the Martians have attacked the house.
While their house was being renovated some friends of ours put their household things in storage and stayed in a hotel for sometime. Fortunate people!

Keeping America Safe - Willie Nelson busted (again) for weed

History repeats .....

Mickey Raphael, Nelson’s longtime harmonica player, tells Rolling Stone that the singer, who posted a $2,500 bond was freed by 1:30 p.m. yesterday, is in good spirits. "He said he feels great — he lost six ounces." 










Even though Willie is 77 years old and has been smoking weed for longer than most of this country's citizens have been alive, he still appears to be very clear headed. We may not agree with everything he says but on several issues we're on the same page.

Willie's choice of medicine makes him a target and gives enemies a chance to falsely paint all anti-war and truth advocates as just like Willie ... dope-heads. Don't you just hate it when they do that?


Check out his telling Larry King that he questions the whole 9/11 official story and knows that the twin towers and building 7 were imploded.

Animal welfare is one of his causes and of course marijuana legalization. The Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute is at the very least a good idea.

Willie also never liked paying taxes to a criminal mafia or maybe his IRS problems stemmed from his choice of  'management?'

A "real person" is what some who have met him have said.

Never one to write very many anti-war songs, Willie says there's only been two, the Vietnam era "Jimmy's Road" and the Iraq war tune  "What Ever Happened to Peace on Earth." Words that remain relevant.

Keeping America Safe - Willie Nelson busted (again) for weed

History repeats .....

Mickey Raphael, Nelson’s longtime harmonica player, tells Rolling Stone that the singer, who posted a $2,500 bond was freed by 1:30 p.m. yesterday, is in good spirits. "He said he feels great — he lost six ounces." 










Even though Willie is 77 years old and has been smoking weed for longer than most of this country's citizens have been alive, he still appears to be very clear headed. We may not agree with everything he says but on several issues we're on the same page.

Willie's choice of medicine makes him a target and gives enemies a chance to falsely paint all anti-war and truth advocates as just like Willie ... dope-heads. Don't you just hate it when they do that?


Check out his telling Larry King that he questions the whole 9/11 official story and knows that the twin towers and building 7 were imploded.

Animal welfare is one of his causes and of course marijuana legalization. The Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute is at the very least a good idea.

Willie also never liked paying taxes to a criminal mafia or maybe his IRS problems stemmed from his choice of  'management?'

A "real person" is what some who have met him have said.

Never one to write very many anti-war songs, Willie says there's only been two, the Vietnam era "Jimmy's Road" and the Iraq war tune  "What Ever Happened to Peace on Earth." Words that remain relevant.

Hussain was on the No 30 bus in London which exploded on July 7, 2005 killing at least 13 people. Police found his driving licence and cash cards after searching the wrecked bus. At least 53 people were killed and 700 injured during morning rush hour terrorist attacks which were targeted at London's transport links with 3 bombs exploding on underground trains and one on a bus on July 7..."

It's what we are dealing with

Thanksgiving day at a gathering of over 20 family and extended family members we had a 9/11 discussion. It was initiated by a guy in his twenties who began spouting the standard anti-muslim 9/11 story and the need for wars and who really got worked up when my wife stated that it was our government with help  that did 9/11 and that the buildings were brought down by controlled demolition.

Almost everyone there was college educated but no one had done one iota of research on the events of that day and only knew the official story. No one had even heard of building 7.

Now everyone admitted that the government and media lies to us on a constant basis but to a person they refused to believe that 9/11 was not done by 19 arabs with boxcutters and their boss bin Laden. They cannot grasp the fact that there are Americans who will kill their own for profit and power. Good people who can't quite understand that psychopaths in power are not like us. They want to believe that there are lines that the crooks in government, as they freely call them, won't cross.

I think this attitude is typical of so many. It's what we are dealing with.


Even eyewitnesses are passed off as being mistaken in the fog of disaster.

A man clearly states he witnessed the building come straight down as a result of bombs/explosions/flashes popping BELOW the impact zone. A so-called expert tried telling him he didn't see or hear any such things.

Could the Court be Complicit in a 7/7 Coverup?

 In a stunning development, on 13 November 2010, Ireland's highest court ruled in favor of the extradition of John Anthony Hill, who also goes by the name "Muad'Dib", who produced "7/7 Ripple Effect", to England to stand trial for attempting to corrupt the judicial system. The charge is in fact quite absurd, since Muad'Dib simply sent copies of his DVD to the court in England in an attempt to preclude the miscarriage of justice that would be involved in sentencing friends of the alleged "bombers" for their complicity in the matter, which is completely unjustified, once one becomes aware of the apparent governmental complicity in staging the 7/7 attacks.

According to the official government account, four young Islamic men came by the tube to four locations in London  and blew themselves up with extraordinary synchrony, the three tube blasts being within 50 seconds of each other.  The greatest  mystery of the official account is probably the total lack of any interest amongst the four in chemistry or bomb-making: a formal Inquest has now reiterated the totally absurd black-pepper and peroxide bomb theory, and has cited a shop where the peroxide was purchased, which may not even sell it.

The Inquest has also specified the time for the first blast at Aldwich as being 8.49.00, precisely 11 minutes to 9, which has has fueled speculation as to whether a "numerical link" is being made to 9/11.

Nicholas Kollerstrom, an historian of science who has also published on the case-- http://terroronthetube.co.uk/reviews-2/reviews/ -- in seeking to confirm the official account, discovered that the 7.40 train from Luton had been cancelled and the other trains that morning had been greatly delayed, which had the inevitable consequence that the four could not have got onto the trains at King’s Cross in time. This seems to be a major reason why the police have not been able to release CCTV of the young men in London on that morning.

Although Kollerstrom had been skeptical about Muad'Dib's version of the events at Canary Wharf as presented in "7/7 Ripple Effect", he has now experienced a massive degree of corroboration of his story from the testimonials put onto his website:

Kollerstrom, however, remains committed to his earlier view, which is that Mohammad Sidique Khan, the alleged ringleader, was not with the other three alleged "suicide bombers" that morning; because of his wife’s early pregnancy complications, Khan had decided to pull out!

While Muad'Dib had presented fifty-four points to the Court, it only considered three of them while ignoring the remainder. According to a friend of Muad'Dib, Rob,* who was present at the hearing, the judges used tortured logic and distorted language to justify their otherwise grossly improper verdict. The judges did not even bother to view his "7/7 Ripple Effect" DVD, which appears on its face to be completely unreasonable, since it was alleged to be the content of that DVD that is responsible for the extradition request. For all the judges knew, the DVD could have been a Beatles' concert or completely blank.

Currently, Muad'Dib is being held in Wandsworth Prison in South London.
