Indonesia is one country that has vast forests in the world. The forest area had reached 113 million hectares and continues to decrease drastically due to ignorance and criminal elements in government who are always hungry for money by cutting down and defoliate forests in order to make large profits without looking at the impact on the global environment.
Here below is the distribution of all sorts / types of forests in the Republic of Indonesia with the meaning of the definition and understanding:
1. Mangrove Forest
Mangrove forests are forests that grow in coastal areas. Example: the east coast of Kalimantan, the southern coast cilacap, etc.. These forests grow especially in places where there is mud and organic matter accumulation. Both in bays protected from the assault of the waves, and surrounding estuaries where the water slows down and precipitate sludge brought from upstream.
2. Sabana forest
Ie sabana forest steppe with a number of trees with a thin low-rainfall. Example: Nusa southeast. Based on the type of vine arranged, the sabana is divided into two, namely pure and mixed sabana.
3. Swamp Forest
Swamp forest is a forest in swampy areas. There swamp forests in nearly all the islands, particularly Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Papua. Swamp tree species such as nyatoh (Palaquium leiocarpum), Kempas (Koompassia spp) and ramin (Gonystylus spp). Example: southern Papua, Kalimantan, etc..
