Coping in our Modern World

From the pressures of family members passing away, to the late-night preoccupations of lying awake wondering how you're going to pay the bills, to the more pervasive terrors of war and terrorism, we are living in a society where difficulties are all around us.

This is not new. What is new, perhaps, is that we thought, particularly in my baby-boomer generation, that things would be different by now. Discussing why they're not different is very much part of the work of our program. But helping people cope with their specific problems is, too.

Today on Healing Through Consciousness, Coping in our Modern World.

Facing the world around us can be a daunting task. When everything's going well, we seem to breeze through our daily lives. But when things start going wrong, getting out of bed can be a major challenge. And let's be honest ... when were things last breezy for us? We have global warming melting polar ice caps and threatening to put the world's coastal cities under water. We have billions in bail-out money - our money - going to bankrupt financial institutions who've staggered us with their greed and irresponsibility. We have supposed viral infections endangering our lives.

Seems like the old ways of coping just aren't sufficient for all this trauma. Know what I mean? So we see dramatic increases in anti-depressives, in drugs to help us sleep, calls to suicide prevention lines escalating. So hold on. Let's get a grip.

There is help available. And inside us, too! Our program is based on the extraordinary work of Brazilian psychoanalyst and social scientist, Dr. Norberto Keppe, who reminds us that inside us holds the greatest riches in the universe. We've lost touch with that in our modern and post-modern world, and so we've defaulted to trying to find happiness and fulfillment and purpose outside. And in our desperation as we fail in that impossible task, we try harder and harder, buy more and more, consume in massively increasing increments ... and go in the opposite direction of happiness and peace. If happiness is outside, so, too must problems be. But it ain'ts so. Our difficulties are within, and our societies reflect that imbalance.

But, Keppe reminds us, our solutions are within, too, and there is limitlesss truth and beauty and goodness to be mined in the human soul. What stops us from doing exactly that is both personal and social. And treating both of those is the focus of Norberto Keppe's science of psycho-socio therapy.

Our show tries to offer a therapeutic voice into this. We are answering questions and responding to specific concerns in people's lives - day-to-day difficulties or problems - weekly through our email at joneshealing@gmail.com, and through Skype, our Skype name is healingthroughconsciousness. You are invited to call us and get those personal trouble spots addressed directly. And that will help many, many others. The psychological, philosophical and spiritual interpretations offered by Analytical Trilogy and Dr. Claudia Bernhardt Pacheco will be very therapeutic and effective, that I can promise you. Dr. Pacheco is a wonder.
